Lyon striker Lisandro Lopez nearly joined Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, according to Hugo Lloris.
The Spurs number one, speaking to L’Equipe, said: “Lisandro? It seems he almost joined Tottenham. He is a great player, charismatic and one who has given a lot to Lyon.
“He is a top player who works hard for the team and can win matches. He is a player that deserves the best.”
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas had been looking to add to his firepower with Emmanuel Adebayor away on international duty in January and Jermain Defoe getting injured.
In the interview with the French newspaper, Lloris also revealed he doesn't hold any grudges over Villas-Boas’ preference for Brad Friedel at the start of the season.
He said: “The start of the season is in the past. The coach and I have the same objective, which is to get the team as high as possible. Everything else is behind us.”
