Tottenham are in talks with Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott regarding a loan deal until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old has found first-team opportunities limited this season, making only 13 appearances under Manuel Pellegrini and is eager to leave the Etihad.
Spurs are keen to bolster their defensive options in January and Lescott is seen as an ideal solution given his ability to play left back as well as centre half.
Newcastle United and AS Monaco are also both thought to be interested.
Should Spurs' bid for Lescott fail, they may decide to recall Benoit Assou-Ekotto who is currently on loan at Queens Park Rangers.
