Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-min Son says Spurs didn't want him to join up with South Korea for international duty.
Following an impressive start to life in the Premier League after a summer move from Bayer Leverkusen, Son missed six games before returning against Anderlecht in the Europa League.
On Sunday the striker was on the bench for their 1-1 draw away to Arsenal, but came on with 15 minutes left to play.
Tottenham’s boss Mauricio Pochettino was cautious about Son playing for Korea but is confident the 25-year old will be fine.
“My club didn’t want me to make the trip and were worried that I would reinjure my foot, but I said I really wanted to go,” Son told Fox Sports.
“I’ve been training all along [during the injury] and I don’t think conditioning will be a concern.”
The striker has made seven appearances and scored three goals in all competitions this season since his £22 million move, which made him the most expensive Asian footballer in history.
