Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino said he was disappointed to take all three points in a dour 0-0 against Chelsea.

Chances were few and far between at White Hart Lane as Spurs missed the chance to move within two points of leader Manchester City.

In his post-match press conference, Pochettino said: “Disappointed because we deserved more but it is true that I am very proud of my players, they are heroes, the effort was huge.”

Spurs travelled thousands of miles to play in Azerbaijan against Qarabag in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Pochettino admitted his side were not mentally fresh.

He said: “When you make the effort and maturity we showed today, I am very happy but disappointed it is only one point.

“Maybe there was a lack of mental freshness, but the effort was massive.”

A year ago Spurs had lost more games at home than any other side.

But Mauricio Pochettino’s side have found a steely determination at White Hart Lane and are one of only two teams to be undefeated at home.

Pochettino added: “We played against last year’s champion and it is good that you get the feeling Chelsea were the small team, and we can win every game.

“We need to work hard, its only 14 games in the premier league and we need to achieve something at the end of this season.”

Ryan Mason, who was surprisingly playing right-wing for Spurs this afternoon, picked up an ankle injury and will be assessed for the next match against West Brom at the Hawthorns.
