STRINGSOFMYHEART, who did this column a good turn last week at Pontefract when landing an 8-1 nap, returns to the same course tomorrow with good prospects of staging a repeat victory.

It is extremely doubtful that the William Haggas-trained filly will start at anything like the same price in the 32Red pcl Handicap, but there is every chance that she can win again.

Stringsofmyheart made most of the running last week and, although briefly headed inside the final furlong, fought back well to gain a gritty victory under Darryll Holland.

Paul Hanagan takes over tomorrow and, despite a 6lb penalty, Stringsofmyheart is again awarded the nap vote.

Haggas and Hanagan also join forces in the featured Ladbrokes Fillies' Handicap, which boasts prize money of £15,000, with Abandon.

A lightly-raced four-year-old, Abandon, winner of two all-weather starts last autumn, probably has plenty of scope for improvement and she looks an interesting candidate as she switches to turf for her comeback outing. Flying Clarets and Manaal, both recent winners, rank among the dangers.

Suits Me should not be overlooked in the Friends Of The Northern Racing College Handicap.

Trained by Tom Tate, who had a couple of winners last week, including Raucous in the feature race at Ripon on Saturday, Suits Me chased home Torrens on his latest outing on this track.

That display illustrated that Suits Me is capable of winning at this level and he is fancied to go one better tomorrow.

Kevin Ryan, who introduces an interesting juvenile at Pontefract in the shape of Smileforawhile (2.20), a son of Green Desert, will also be represented by one of his two-year-olds at Ascot, courtesy of Kersaint in the waterhomes.com Garter Stakes.

A debut winner at Leicester, where he scored despite looking green, Kersaint looks to have plenty of improvement and, although he faces a stern challenge here, he is not for underestimating.

The £50,000 Woodcote Stud Sagaro Stakes is the showpiece event at Ascot and The Last Drop commands plenty of respect.

The Barry Hills-trained colt finished second to Sixties Icon in the St Leger at York last September, and although defeated by Mount Kilimanjaro on his recent reappearance at Nottingham, that was a very muddling affair, and he looked a luckless loser. Valuable compensation can come his way.

Cesare, winner of the Royal Hunt Cup on this course last summer, should not go unnoticed in the Paradise Stakes, while Hoh Mike, placed in such races last season as the Norfolk Stakes, the Flying Childers and the Cornwallis, is fancied to kick-off his three-year-old campaign with a win in the Pavilion Stakes.
