A MUM from Kingsmead has been inspired to take on a double challenge by the death of her own mother.
Louise Clague is determined to raise £10,000 for the British Lung Foundation after her mum Pat Tait contracted TB and emphysema and spent seven years relying on oxygen for up to 14 hours a day.
She died in July aged just 62, inspiring 37-year-old Louise to pick up her running shoes again and train for her third 26-mile London Marathon.
Louise, of Wyndham Close, said: "I'm doing this because of my mum - I decided in October time that I was going to do something.
"I was talking about doing the marathon and decided to hold a charity ball as well - in for a penny in for a pound."
She has already raised £3,000 through sponsorship and hopes Auntie Pat's Summer Ball, which will take place at Lancashire Cricket Club on June 30, will provide the bulk of the rest.
Louise, who has a four-year-old daughter and a 10-month-old son, said: "I've got two small children and work fulltime so it's certainly going to be a challenge.
"I've run 18 miles quite a few times so I'm not too worried about the marathon itself and I have done the London Marathon before.
"This is the third time I've run it, but that was before I had the children."
Former England cricketer Chris Cowdrey will be master of ceremonies at the ball, which includes a three-course meal, live music and a charity auction, which Chris will also host.
