WORCESTERSHIRE Wildlife Trust is inviting people to Lower Smite Farm to celebrate spring at its first public event of the season.

The free event, on Sunday, April 1, will run from 2pm to 5pm.

Gill Evans, people and wildlife manager, describes the attractions planned for the event: "There will be seasonal surprises galore at our spring open afternoon. Guided farm tours will show the wheat growing and the trees and hedges in blossom.

"We will be hosting a few special guests from our neighbouring farm, see new born lambs and calves. We will be exhibiting farming tools from long ago, alongside today's modern machinery.

"A display on farming through the ages will be in our threshing barn and old granary. Children can to go on an Easter egg hunt, sow spring seeds and make Easter bonnets for the parade at 4.30pm. Finally, enjoy the cream teas and peruse the local food and plant stalls."

Free car parking is available for the meeting. From Worcester, Lower Smite Farm can be reached from junction 6 of the M5, following the A4538 to Droitwich.
