WINDOWMAN League Premiership table-toppers the Belvedere Inn will meet reigning champions the Black Dog in this year's Len Mahoney Cup final set for May 6 at Dorchester Town's Avenue Stadium.

It will be the Dog's fifth Len Mahoney final on the trot following their comprehensive 7-1 defeat of Southill Snooker Club and it will give Alan Heseltine's boys the chance of clinching a unique cup double as the Dog have already made their first ever DCFA Sunday Intermediate final.

Paul Cole found the bottom corner for the Dog's first from 15 yards on ten minutes although Southill soon grabbed a surprise leveller.

Before the break the Dog did edge ahead once more as a dangerous free-kick from Andy Laidlow was touched home at the far-post by Derek Puckett.

Taking the game by the scruff of its neck, the Dog produced their best 45 minutes of football so far this season after the break as they conjured chance after chance and took five of them to cruise home.

Shane Evans pounced on a bobbling free-kick by Cole, Puckett latched onto an Ollie Stanton through ball to tuck home and from a near-post corner Richie Frost made it 5-1 from close-range.

Stanton bagged the goal of the game when he ran from his own half, beat two defenders before rifling a 20-yard strike into the roof of the net. Evans then rounded it off by scoring a header late on.

Last year's cup winners the Old Ship were expected to give the Belve a decent run for their money in the other semi-final but it was the former Dorothy boys that progressed with some degree of comfort.

Once again Justin Crawford was struggling to field a full Upwey outfit and Bobby Darch's charges were in no mood for sympathy as Alex Halloran slotted home the opener from Jamie Spivey's centre.

Moments later it was 2-0 as Anthony Mauger misread Ricky Lane's low drive that nestled just inside the post but the Ship did pull one back with a fine volley that beat Rich Portsmouth five minutes ahead of the switch.

The Belve struck a third right on the stroke of half-time to take the wind out of the Ship's sails - Noddy Coan breaking free and placing home a left-footer.

The second 45 ended up being a mere formality as the Belve hit three more. Darch squared to Shapcott to net the fourth and then the talisman himself fired a brace of his own - the second a delightful looping volley from Spivey's long ball in the final minute.

In Premiership action the Weymouth Working Men's Club recently pulled off a 3-2 victory over old rivals Weymouth Saints thanks to a double from Phil Lee and a strike by Wayne Barnes.

Josh Evans and Ross Jones netted for the Saints, who ended up gaining their revenge last Sunday when they beat the Workies 3-0 at the Marsh.

Saints took the lead midway through the first half when Paul Lambert's precise delivery from a free-kick found Michael Stone who crashed home a fantastic lunging header.

Workies continued to battle but after the break the lead was doubled when substitution Josh Evans nodded in off a post after a deflected cross had fallen into his path.

Marco Nott, who also came off the bench, then made it 3-0 with a bizarre flick-on. The towering player's header from outside the area took a huge bounce on the hard surface before sailing over the head of the Workies' keeper.
