A TEENAGER has made it through to the final stage of a prestigious national beauty contest.

Louise Wood, 16, beat competition from more than 4,500 girls to reach the final of Miss Teen Queen UK.

She was spotted by organisers at the recent Clothes Show Live event in Birmingham and they asked her to apply for the contest.

She sent off pictures and after going through four stages has made it to the national final.

The pupil of St Augustine's RC High School, Billington, could win a place at the international Miss Teen Queen final in Barbados in July if she is successful on Sunday.

She will take part in the 16 to 19-years-old category.

Louise, who lives in Long Meadow, Mellor Brook, with dad Mike and mum Anne, said: "It's absolutely fantastic to make it this far."

Pictures have been posted on the Miss Teen Queen website and an event will be held in London later this month.

She added: "I'm really looking forward to it."

The teenager, who enjoys dancing, acting and singing, gave up modelling because of school commitments but would like to start again.

Dad Mike said: "I'm biased but she is very good looking and talented."
