SEVERAL companies are among the front-runners to land prestigious business honours at a top industry event recognising their efforts to protect the environment .
Fort Vale Engineering, Nelson; Barnoldwick-based Rolls-Royce; Baxi Heating, Padiham; Clitheroe-based double glazing firm Ultraframe and environmental advice agency Crowberry Consulting, Chorley have all been shortlisted in the Northwest Business Environment Awards 2007.
Fort Vale, Rolls Royce, Baxi and Ultraframe have been shortlisted in the best environmental practice category.
Crowberry Consulting has been shortlisted in the sustainable procurement section, in recognition of its commitment to buying and using recycled products.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Wednesday, May 16, at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall.
