Students from a primary school in Muswell Hill have won a borough-wide golf championship.

Pupils from Coldfall Primary School, in Coldfall Avenue, won their first Tri-Golf Haringey Championship at Durnsford Park last week with a team of five boys and three girls from Year 6, and two girls from Year 5.

Eight schools from across Haringey took part with Rhodes Avenue Primary, in Wood Green, coming second and Muswell Hill Primary School in third place.

Each team had to play six rounds, each working on different golf strokes.

Evelyn Davis, headteacher of the school, said she is very excited for the team to represent Haringey at the London Youth Games in Crystal Palace on July 4.

She said: “This has been a brilliant week for sporting achievement at Coldfall – with this golfing success and our Year 6 team winning the Met Police Haringey Football Cup for the first time since 2005.

“This is the first time that Coldfall has ever won the Golf Championship and we are so proud of our team for doing so well.”

Team captain Thomas Warren said: “Winning the golf tournament was the best day of my life.

“The sweet taste of victory and the nervous wait was rewarded by a big trophy and a gold medal.”
