More than 2 million turkeys, 74 million mince pies and 5 million Christmas puddings will be thrown away in the UK after Christmas, a waste disposal company has estimated.
Veolia, who are responsible for rubbish collection in Haringey, also estimate that 30 per cent more waste is produced across the borough than usual.
The estimates are taken from figures produced by WRAP, who campaign for waste reduction, and from Veolia’s measure of the rubbish collected in Haringey.
