A man has checked himself into hospital despite being stabbed.

Metropolitan Police say they were called at 5.30pm yesterday (August 17) to reports of a stabbing in Durnsford Road, Haringey, but when officers reached the scene neither the victim nor the suspect was at the scene.

However they were called 15 minutes later by staff at an unnamed north London hospital, saying a man had checked himself into A&E with a stab wound.

He was taken to another hospital in east London. Police say his condition is not life-threatening.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "At this early stage officers believe the suspect - who was travelling in a car - stopped and exited his vehicle in Durnsford Road.

"He approached the victim who was travelling in a separate car and stabbed him before fleeing in his vehicle."

Enquiries continue.
