Five men who were identified as part of a CCTV appeal in connection with a robbery were innocent parties, police have confirmed.

Hertfordshire Constabulary launched an investigation after a robbery at a store in New Road, Croxley Green on July 7 and as part of their enquires they released five pictures of people they believed could help them.

All five were identified and co-operated with the enquiries and it was soon established that none of them were involved in the incident.

Police say they have “exhausted” all lines of enquiry and the investigation has been finalised in line with force policy and the victim is aware.

But the force says if any new information comes to light, it will be investigated.

A police spokeswoman said: “We can now confirm that five men who were identified following our initial CCTV appeal have been eliminated from the investigation.

“All five assisted us with our enquiries and it was soon established that they were innocent parties and none of them were involved with the incident. We would like to thank them for their help.”
