Residents and staff from a care home are “overjoyed” after wining a national gardening award.

Chorleywood Beaumont Care Community was crowned National Winner of the Garden of the Year category at an annual event on October 11.

The care home received the accolade at the Barchester in Bloom gardening competition which is part of the Barchester Care Awards. More than 1,500 nominations were received.

The competition aims to promote gardening and celebrate outdoor spaces cared for by residents and care home staff.

The winners were presented with a trophy and a £500 gift voucher by Barchester’s chief executive officer Pete Calveley.

The home’s maintenance manager Adrian Stoica said: “Residents at Chorleywood Beaumont love spending time in our garden, and it really is a labour of love. We have put in so much work to get our garden to look its best.

“We love our garden and we’re looking forward to incorporating new projects and ideas into the home with residents and the local community, so we can take home the trophy again next year.”

The Barchester Care Awards is organised by national care provider, Barchester Healthcare.
