A by-election will be held in Enfield this week.

A poll will take place on Thursday (November 22) to elect a new councillor for the Bush Hill Park ward following the resignation of Conservative councillor Jon Daniels, who stood down in September.

The seat will be contested by candidates from Labour, the Conservatives, the Liberal Democrats, the Green Party, the Women’s Equality Party and independent candidate Erol Ovayolu.

Cllr Daniels triggered the by-election when he resigned “with immediate effect” on September 24 – a decision he said was due to “the pressures of balancing a family and work life”.

There are currently 46 Labour councillors and 14 Conservatives on Enfield Council.

Two former Conservative councillors are currently serving as independent members following their suspension by the party.

Polling stations in Bush Hill Park will be open between the hours of 7am and 10pm.
