A farm house was badly damaged by fire.
At around 6pm on Thursday fire crews from Harlow, Ongar, Old Harlow and Epping stations were called to Epping Road.
There they were confronted with a blaze on the first floor of the property which had spread to the roof space.
The whole house was heavily smoke logged.
Firefighters worked to stop the fire spreading any further.
By 7.40pm it was out.
Crews then stayed on site for some time to dampen down hotspots and ensure the area was safe.
A large section of the first floor and roof have been completely destroyed by the fire.
An investigation will take place to determine the cause of the fire.
