An office block will be turned into 50 new homes after developers agreed to include some affordable housing as part of the scheme.

The four-storey project at Trinity House, in Heather Park Drive, Wembley, was unanimously approved by Brent Council’s planning committee following some key changes.

A new scheme was put forward by Gulvanessian Architects after the initial plan was rejected because of a complete lack of affordable housing.

Of the 50 proposed homes – which is three more than the original scheme – there are ten which are deemed ‘affordable’, with seven offered under social rent.

As part of the redesign, the car park that was to be housed in the building’s basement has been removed.

Cllr Richard Johnson, deputy chairman of the planning committee, pointed out that there will now be concerns around parking at the site after the loss of 37 spaces.

But David Glover, presenting the report, explained that there are 16 on-site spaces included as part of the scheme and the council’s highways team believes the additional on-street parking available is “adequate”.

Despite four objections from those living nearby – relating to parking and the building’s design – it was unanimously approved in light of the developer’s tweaks.

The committee was satisfied that they had addressed the relevant affordability issues and believes the project will provide more homes for the borough.
