An exciting new show is skating into London this month.

Audiences can relive the magic and memories of their favourite Disney films with The Wonderful World of Disney on Ice.

Join Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse as they venture through a treasure-filled journey bound for heartwarming adventure.

Featuring more than 50 Disney characters, this production includes songs and characters from The Lion King, Aladdin, Finding Dory, Tangled, Frozen and more.

One dancer starring in this highly anticipated new show is Jonathan Partridge, who is based in Southgate.

We sat down with the dancer to find out more about the upcoming show...

What age did you begin skating and why?

When I was 10, I went to a friend’s birthday party at an ice rink and loved it so I started taking lessons.

How long have you been with the show?

I joined in 2014 after years of competing.

While on tour, what is your favourite thing to do during your free time?

I love sightseeing. I understand that I am in an extremely fortunate position where I get to travel to all of these amazing places, so I try to make the most of it and explore every place I go to.

What item(s) can’t you live without on the road?

I’m quite easy going and I realize that all my objects are replaceable but in this day and age of technology, I would really struggle without my laptop and my phone. Just staying in touch with friends and family back at home really helps keep me grounded.

What has been your toughest challenge during your performance career?

My toughest challenge was to overcome many injuries that plagued me throughout my competitive career. But I never gave up or let those injuries beat me. I kept on getting back up, training hard and achieving a huge amount out of my career in ice skating.

What is your character like? Is it difficult to dance in costume?

I love being able to portray Prince Hans as he starts out as a supposedly good guy but then morphs into the bad guy, so I get to really explore all of my acting and performing ability in order to play both the good and bad guy.

The costume can provide some challenges but as soon as I put it on, it helps me get into a regal frame of mind, ready to go out there and perform like a prince!

Do you have a favourite scene from the show?

I think that my favourite scene to watch in the show is the stampede scene in the Lion King segment. It’s such a powerful scene with intense music and great choreography. If you’re sitting close enough to the ice, you can even feel the wind being generated by the costumes as they come round at high speed, simulating a real life stampede, making me almost believe that I’m in the African desert, watching the drama unfold.

Why should audiences come to see the show?

Audiences should come to see the show because it’s a high energy, stunt filled, audience inclusive show that has so many of your favourite Disney classic stories in it, meaning that there are so many princesses and princes/famous rag doll toys/confused fish and prides of lions to come and see!

Disney on Ice is going on tour beginning at the SSE Arena in Wembley on Wednesday, March 13, to Sunday, March 17. Visit www.disneyonice.com for details and tickets.
