Justin Edinburgh was pleased with the “valuable” point that his side picked up in their 0-0 draw at Barnet on Saturday.

The O’s were on an eight-game winning streak going into the match but were up against a Bees side who were also in a rich vain of form, not losing in five and keeping clean sheets in their last four prior to Orient’s visit.

Edinburgh told the club’s website: “Any point that you gain is a valuable one, certainly away from home and against a team that’s in form, so we’re not disappointed, we’re very pleased with the point we’ve got today.

“Team aren’t going to just roll over and let us get wins after wins. This team are in good form and they’ll cause a lot of teams they’ve got to play between now and the end of the season problems. We had to see out the storm and I thought we did that, being a lot better in the second half.”

The O’s had a couple of penalty shouts turned away by referee Sam Purkiss, which would have been the side’s golden opportunities if they were awarded, with little threat otherwise on the Barnet goal aside from one moment right at the death when Josh Coulson’s header was ruled out for offside, something that the boss had little complaint about.

He said: “Josh [Koroma] definitely feels that his is a penalty. I’m not really sure. I’ve seen a coming together with [James] Dayton’s but sometimes they’re given and sometimes they’re not, they didn’t go for us today.

“All the boys believe that he [Coulson] was offside so no complaints. I don’t think we were at our best but there’s a lot to be asked of the players in a short period of time and there’s more to come but I’m pleased with the way we ground out the clean sheet and the point today.”

Edinburgh was forced to make a change at half-time, with captain Jobi McAnuff being withdrawn for the returning Charlie Lee, and he praised the substitute for his performance and attitude when he was introduced.

He said: “Jobi has been a bit tight in his groins and we’re at that stage of the season where we can’t take risks so we withdrew him and replaced him with the vice-captain in Charlie Lee so no complaints there, we’re like-for-like and I thought Charlie came on and did very well.

“He’s not had as much football as he’d like but that’s the quality of the squad we’ve got and that’s what it’s going to take between now and the end of the season because everyone’s going to be called upon.”

The O’s head coach also gave an update on Koroma having said after the previous match that they were managing the striker’s return carefully.

He said: “We have to be careful with him because he had a serious hamstring injury and he felt a little bit tight at half-time, so we said to go out and see how it is.

“He didn’t quite feel that it was easing off, but the pleasing thing is that we’re replacing him with Jay Simpson so we’re certainly not weakening the team in any way.”
