A man has died following a triple stabbing in Barnet.

Police were called to Welbeck Road, East Barnet, at 10.50pm on Tuesday following reports of a fight.

Scotland Yard said three men who had been stabbed were taken to hospital, one of whom later died.

The two other injured men - one in his 20s and another in his 30s - were not in a life-threatening condition, the force said.

A crime scene remained in place on Wednesday morning as murder detectives opened an investigation.

No arrests have been made yet and enquiries continue.

It is the fifth killing in London in six days.

An 18-year-old was stabbed to death in Wandsworth on Friday afternoon, and barely minutes later, police were called to a shooting in Plumstead. A 19-year-old was shot dead.

A man in his 30s was stabbed to death in Tower Hamlets on Saturday and on Monday a man in his 40s was fatally stabbed in Stratford.

There was also a stabbing in Enfield on Saturday which left a 45-year-old man critical while a 17-year-old was left fighting for his life after being shot in Tulse Hill on Sunday evening.

While in Leytonstone, a 28-year-old man was shot on Monday morning but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The Metropolitan Police said it had boosted activity by its Violent Crime Taskforce in certain hotspots.
