A new seven-day-a-week Enfield bank has opened its doors today to the public.

The new Metro bank opened its 67th store on Church Street - and hosted the first of a two-day launch party for people to enjoy.

Stilt walkers were in attendance as well as a DJ, with free manicures and face painting also available at the event.

Enfield’s Mayor, Cllr Kate Anolue, officially opened the store, along with the store’s hosts, Local Director, Guy Jones-Owen and Store Manager, Abdul Khamil.

Ian Walters, 56, is the managing director of retail and business banking at Metro. Speaking at the launch of the new Enfield branch, he felt that the event had been a success.

He said: “I think it has been an amazing day.

“I have been blown away by the welcome we have received. From start to finish, it has been really busy.

“It has been a really excellent grand opening so far.”

Customers can visit the store at a time convenient to them without an appointment and business owners will be supported by the store-based business managers.

It will be open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm on Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday and bank holidays.

There will also be 1,600 safety deposit boxes available for residents to reserve.

Mr Walters added: “Having a bank that is ready, able and willing to support the public, I think people will be pleased.

“I think we have a model that is different. I think we are going to make an amazing start in Enfield and over the next few months I think we are going to see lots of customers”.

The new store also revealed its Money Zone event, Metro Bank’s financial education programme for primary school children, at the launch.

Dogs are also welcome, with there being a selection of goodies including fresh water bowls and treats on offer.
