Wedding season is finally here, and the founder of a fashion boutique has highlighted her tips and tricks for guests this summer.

Deryane Tadd, 47, from Watford founded The Dressing Room in St Albans in 2005 after she spent many years in the retail industry after leaving school at 16.

She worked her way up through the ladder until she became operations and buying director for a chain of French Connection franchises but came to a crossroad that led her to take a leap at her own fashion company.

Mrs Tadd sources her collections for The Dressing Room by visiting over 100 showrooms and season plus trade shows in the UK, Scandinavia and Europe.

She has become a very influential figure within the fashion retail industry and has been named twice in the POWER LIST as one of the 100 most influential people in the fashion industry.

The Dressing Room offers a Style Me service which allows people to book styling sessions either in store or online and is useful for people who are attending an upcoming wedding this summer.

Over the years, she has seen a change in style especially for wedding fashion, this year is focusing on the rainbow trend.

The rainbow trend

Mrs Tadd said: “I think there are less rules now especially since wedding venues have become so diverse over the years. You can have a lot more fun with your outfit.

“The rainbow trend has really hit the spot this season. We have some fabulous sequined rainbow skirts and tops that look amazing on plus some beautiful maxi dresses.

“I would wear the rainbow stripe wrap dress from our Danish brand Stine Goya. I’d accessorise this with a wide brimmed black hat and lots of layered gold jewellery. But sadly, I don’t have any wedding invites this year.

“I actually really like black for a wedding as long as you accessorise appropriately. I think it looks very chic and sharp, but if you are worried that then opt for Navy instead.

"Trousers can also look super sharp for a wedding and can set you apart from the crowd, however right now it has to be dresses for me. They are having such a fashion moment and designers have really embraced the trend and there are so many beautiful options"

Avoid mass-market brands

Mrs Tadd also shared tips about avoiding faux pas and what she dislikes most about in wedding fashion.

She said: “I would try to avoid mass-market high-street stores. You are bound to see someone else at the wedding in the same outfit.

“The thing I dislike the most about dressing for a wedding is when people buy something they only ever wear once - other than your actual bridal wedding dress.

“Make sure you wear your special pieces after the event – don’t let them gather dust in your wardrobe.

“Finally I wouldn’t go too short with your dress and try to avoid a long white lace dress.”
