Thousands of Tesco staff could lose their jobs, the UK's biggest supermarket has announced.
4,500 staff members in 153 Tesco Metro stores could lose their jobs in the latest round of redundancies.
The news comes after the supermarket giant announced earlier this year that there would be a major redundancy programme. It said the programme would affect 9,000 full-time equivalent positions.
This includes plans to close or reduce deli counters across stores, and end catering for staff in stores.
In June, it was reported that Tesco had overpaid and underpaid hundreds of staff who were let go in the last round of redundancies
Between 200 and 300 former workers were affected, according to Press Association, with some overpaid by as much as £2,000.
