TATTON MP Esther McVey thanks her constituents for their support in her New Year's message for 2020.

Firstly, I want to say thank you. I feel very lucky to have been re-elected as your MP, and I know many people voted Conservative for the first time as they wanted to break the deadlock in Parliament and deliver Brexit so we can focus on domestic policies, and I will work tirelessly to repay your trust.

Christmas for many is a time of joy, but for some it is a difficult time, so let us take a moment to remember those who have lost loved ones, who are suffering or are alone.

Let us also spare a thought for all those who have worked over Christmas and New Year, whether it is volunteering, our NHS workers, police, or other emergency services, who are giving up their time to ensure the happiness or safety of others.

We should also remember the brave men and women in our Armed Forces serving abroad who are away from family and friends.

Since I was elected in 2017 I have seen the amazing community spirit across the area, and I am proud to represent such communities where I have made my family home.

This past year has seen increased investment in Tatton’s schools, money for improved access at Handforth Station and infrastructure and planning enforcement.

There is always more work to do, and this coming year I want to ensure we receive a fair share of central government funding.

I will continue to work hard to push for better transport links across the area, including the much-needed second train an hour from Knutsford and vital local bus services.

The past 12 months I have been fortunate enough to meet thousands of people across the constituency, visited many business, charities, schools and other organisations and I look forward to meeting many more in the coming months.

Finally, may I take this opportunity to wish you a very healthy and prosperous 2020.
