A 20-year-old man has been arrested following the death if a woman in her 60s at a residential address in Chingford.
Police were called at 11.35pm on Wednesday, January 22, to reports of a disturbance at a residential address in Waverley Avenue.
Officers found a woman, aged in her 60s, suffering head injuries; she was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this stage, detectives are treating her death as suspicious and believe the victim and the man were known to each other.
Officers believe they know her identity and are in the process of informing next of kin. A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.
A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested at the location and taken into custody at a north London police station.
Enquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances.
