A charity-run volunteer group who help looks after the district’s elderly residents are seeking additional volunteers to join their Board of Trustees.

Voluntary Action Epping Forest (VAEF) based in Thornwood, helps Epping Forest’s most vulnerable residents with their health and wellbeing.

Current projects volunteers are working on include weekly group activities for people with Learning Disabilities and the Gardening, Handyman and Home Safety Services - who maintain gardens or complete DIY jobs physically unable to.

The charity are particularly keen to recruit members of the community who have one or more of the following skills:

• Digital and marketing experience to support our strategic thinking around better use of technology to reach and support our beneficiaries and maintain and share our knowledge base.

• Financial management experience that can help us balance our commercial viability with our social purpose

• Human resource & legal experience particularly around contracts, compliance and working in a partnership environment

• Those familiar with the changing landscape of health and social care that can help us lead thinking in involvement in new models of care

VAEF are also interested in hearing from people with a range of skills, enthusiasm and the desire to make a difference within the district.

No previous Board experience is necessary and applications are welcome from all ages and backgrounds.

Board meetings are held bi-monthly, meet-ups usually held on Tuesday afternoons between 1pm and 4pm.
