Drivers are being warned to avoid going near the football stadium tomorrow by a resident who witnessed problems two weeks ago.

And a second set of roadworks is likely to make things even worse.

A road closure in Harwoods Road, Watford, remains in place this weekend, and until February 17.

A man living in Brightwell Road said when Watford played Tottenham at Vicarage Road on January 18, drivers ended up going round in circles due to the roadworks.

Vicarage Road is shut at Harwoods Road on matchdays, so drivers have to divert up Harwoods Road.

But Affinity Water had shut Harwoods Road at Benskin Road for roadworks.

So drivers had no choice but to go down Brightwell Road, and the local road network became gridlocked.

So he said people were ending up back where they started at the junction of Brightwell Road and Hagden Lane.

Since the Tottenham game, the roadworks in Harwoods Road has move down and is now shut at the junction with Brightwell Road.

The resident is urging motorists to avoid getting caught in the same trap drivers got caught in two weeks ago, when Watford face Everton at home at 3pm tomorrow.

Another set of roadworks close by in Hagden Lane is only likely to add to the problems.

Emergency cable work began a day after the Tottenham game and will stay until February 6.

Four-way temporary traffic lights have been switched off but the road has been narrowed in Hagden Lane so delays are likely.
