Several secondary school students took to the stage for an evening show dedicated in the name of love.

Year 7 to Year 10 pupils at West Hatch High School, on High Road, Chigwell, entertained the audience with their show titled 'Love Lounge' on Thursday, February 13.

Student performed music, poetry and dance recitals during the evening which is now set to become an annual event.

Music teacher Marcella Lord said: "The 'Love Lounge' featured our ‘Unconventional Choir’ made up of students from Year 7 to Year 10.

"Students read poems about love that they had either written themselves or found and wanted to share with an audience, and there was also performances by some talented dancers and musicians."

She added "The 'Love Lounge' had an informal cabaret-style set-up and it was a fantastic platform for students to feel comfortable to get on stage and be whoever they want to be - a poet, singer, dancer or musician."

The last act - a Beatles Tribute - featured a band made up of students and staff, including headteacher Daniel Leonard on guitar.

Mr Leonard said: "It was a another wonderful evening showcasing the talents of our students. We are so grateful for the time and dedication shown by both staff and students and we are all very proud of our talented performers."
