Warner Bros has announced it will shut its Harry Potter tour following the coronavirus outbreak.

While no cases of Covid-19 have been reported at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, which is based in Leavsden, a decision has been made to temporarily close the tour for the Making of Harry Potter from Monday evening.

In a statement released by Harry Potter studios, it said the decision was made “out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of the health and well-being of our visitors, employees and community partners”.

It continued: “We have made the decision to temporarily close the Studio Tour effective from 8pm on Monday 16th March 2020.

“We will continue to monitor the situation closely, please refer to our website for further updates on a date when we will reopen.”

For any booked tickets up to and including April 3, the studio tour will offer a full refund.

The statement added: “A member of our Visitor Services Team will contact you within 72 hours of your intended visit date to arrange a refund. Please have your payment details to hand and be aware that our team will call from a withheld number.

“If your booking was made using a gift ticket, these will be re-validated for 12 months from your visit date. You will receive an email to confirm this and our team will not call you.

“If you have purchased tickets or transportation packages via a third-party company, please contact them directly. Please note, refunds will not be given for any travel, accommodation or additional expenses.”

From 4pm on Monday, phone lines for the tour will be closed.

The statement said: "We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.”
