AN INTERNATIONAL volunteer organisation has been hard at work fostering community a little closer to home during lockdown

Members of Soroptimists International Rhyl & District have organised a number of schemes to support vulnerable people self-isolating.

The group have also launched ‘share and care’ plant swapping scheme, while some of the club's members have also been baking for hospital ward staff

A spokesperson for the group said “We are proud of our members who have risen to the challenge of helping the community in these difficult times.

"Members of SI Rhyl & District have shown that they are flexible and responsive to individual needs which are even more pressing in these tough times.”

The group have also collected £120 and vouchers have been given to the Women’s Refuge , and have agreed to give 72 'lucky bags' - including a drink, cereal bar, sweets, wet wipes, tissues and deodorant - to the nurses in the ICU department in Glan Clwyd Hospital.

The spokesperson added: "We have received a thank you from the team and we have also supplied another 32 to the hospital outreach nurse for distribution.

"Also, some members have made Scrub Bags so that nurses can carry their uniforms home for washing."
