THE Rhyl RNLI has launched on two separate callouts with 45 minutes of each other.

The crew were first approached just after midday on Thursday, June 25 at 12.08pm, by a member of the public, drawing the Coxswain Martin Jones' attention to an inflatable being taken out to sea off the promenade.

A spokesperson for Rhyl RNLI said: "The inflatable was too far out to see if anyone was aboard, and so the inshore lifeboat (ILB) was paged and the crew launched to the inflatable. On scene, there was no-one on board. the inflatable was taken back to where it was thought to have blown from.

"The inflatable was too far out to see if anyone was aboard, and so the ILB was paged and the crew launched to the inflatable. On scene, there was no-one on board. the inflatable was taken back to where it was thought to have blown from.

"The Coxswain went to the location and confirmed with the owners that no-one was on board. The inflatable was handed over and the ILB returned to station by 12.40pm."

At 12.52pm, just 12 minutes after the ILB returned, the crew’s attention was drawn to a small dayboat off Splash Point, with the occupant leaning over the outboard engine trying to start it.

The spokesperson added: "The ILB crew was already at the boathouse, and the ILB was launched to investigate in co-operation with UK coastguard at Holyhead, and Rhyl local coast rescue team. "On scene, the occupant stated he had stalled the engine with too much choke, but had now sorted out the problem, and would return to shore soon. The ILB crew returned to station at 1.05pm."
