Watford has launched an investigation after one of its players was reported to have had a party.
Striker Andre Gray, who turned 29 on Friday, held approximately a 20-person gathering in his home on Friday night, according to the Athletic.
It is believed team-mate Domingos Quina was among those to have attended the party, which would have been in breach of the Government’s coronavirus guidelines.
The Athletic reported that Watford is "disappointed" with two of their first team players' actions, with Gray having posted now deleted videos of friends playing football in his garden on his Instagram story.
The club has now triggered an investigation into the alleged gathering ahead of its clash with Southampton tomorrow.
Watford FC said in a statement: "Watford Football Club is aware of social media posts which suggest two players contravened Government lockdown protocols.
"The club will fully investigate the matter and speak to the players concerned.
"No further comment will be made."
Under the current Government guidelines, people can meet in groups of up to six from different households, provided that social distancing is observed and people stay two metres away from one another.
The Government advises that no parties should take place because of the threat of coronavirus.
