Watford's poor run of form continued with a 3-1 defeat at home against Southampton on Sunday afternoon, as their search for Premier League safety enters the final six games of the season.

Individual errors and uninspiring defensive work made things all too easy for the visitors, while the Hornets failed to muster a shot on target themselves and only managed to score thanks to a Jan Bednarek own goal.

Here's how we rated their individual performances.

Ben Foster - 4

The goalkeeper became the 19th player to make 100 consecutive Premier League appearances, but it's a landmark he will likely want to forget. Gifted the ball to Danny Ings for goal number two, which came as the Hornets were in the ascendency. Made a smart save late on, but had already done enough damage by that point.

Kiko Femenia - 5

Showed a lack of tactical awareness throughout and regularly played hopeful balls upfield to no one in particular.

Craig Dawson - 3

Was stuck in reverse for most of the game - constantly backing away from Ings and giving him all the space he needed to twice stride at leisure into a position from which he scored.

Craig Cathcart - 3

Equally as hapless as his centre-back partner. Both were guilty of turning and playing the ball back to Foster instead of attempting to move forward. A frustrating watch.

Adam Masina - 5

Didn't do too badly defensively, but offered little when in possession. Seemed to be lacking either ideas or instruction.

Will Hughes - 5

At least tried to shoot on a few occasions, even though every time it was dealt with by the Southampton defenders. Put in more effort than most, but still far from good enough.

Etienne Capoue - 4

The man who Watford so often rely on to dictate the pace of the game looked like a rabbit in the headlights. A total lack of control through the midfield again.

Abdoulaye Doucoure - 4

Less of a driving force and more of a broken down engine. Looked lethargic and unwilling to make the type of runs that can stretch a defence and pull players out of position.

Ismaila Sarr - 5

A willing runner but Watford's lack of cohesion meant he was rarely given the chance to get in behind the Saints defence. On the rare occasion he did, he once again misjudged his pass.

Roberto Pereyra - 4

Uninterested and underwhelming. Looks like his head is elsewhere.

Troy Deeney - 5

A noticeable lack of fight from the skipper, who looked more focused on winning free-kicks than winning a game of football. Again, wasn't helped by the service from his teammates but that's hardly an excuse.

Substitutes

Jose Holebas - 6

Provided a modicum of creativity which had been in short supply. His cross caused enough panic in the box for Bednarek to turn it past his own keeper.

Joao Pedro - 5

A lot of energy, but not much in the way of substance. Hardly a suitable time for youngsters to be given a run out, but with circumstances as they are, there's little choice at the moment.

Danny Welbeck - 5

Played his part in the goal with a run into the box - something that had been lacking all game. Didn't do a lot else, however.

Igancio Pussetto - N/A

Joined too late to make an impact.
