A CARLISLE man has been accused of throwing drugs, phones and alcohol over a prison fence.

Dylan James Schwenke, 25, of Warnell Drive, has appeared before a district judge charged with five offences.

Two of the allegations relate to an allegation that between the dates of November 30 last year and Christmas Eve he conspired with others throw prohibited items over the fence that protects HMP Northumberland.

One charge states that he conspired to controlled drugs over the prison's fence. The second charge says that he conspired with others to convey phones over the prison fence.

The three other charges he faces are as follows: conspiring to supply the class A drug cocaine; acquiring criminal property - namely cash and personal items; and being concerned in the supply of cocaine to a named individual currently in jail for drugs offences.

District Judge Gerald Chalk said all of the alleged offences had to be dealt with at the crown court.

Defence solicitor John Smith said the defendant was confident that he had done nothing wrong.

Judge Chalk remanded the defendant in custody, telling him that he will make his first appearance at Carlisle Crown Court on August 4.
