A FURTHER coronavirus-related death at the Royal Bolton Hospital occurred yesterday, taking the number of people who have died at the hospital from the illness to 226.

The latest death means a total of five people have passed away with the virus this month.

The deaths follow a three week period where no deaths from Covid-19 occurred at the hospital.

NHS England says that the Bolton death yesterday was one of five which are reported as happening in North West hospitals. The only other death from the virus at an English hospital that day occurred in the East of England.

The figures do not include people who died from the virus in the community and care homes or in other countries in the UK.

Statistics released today by the government state that a total of 44,650 people in the UK have died with coronavirus, with 40,066 of the deaths occurring in England

Altogether 288,133 people have tested positive for the disease.

In Bolton 1,845 people have been tested for the virus with the results coming back positive — a cumulative rate of 646.5 cases per 100,000 of population.
