A cheque for £10,000 has been presented to the winner of St Clare Hospice’s Lottery rollover.

The Hastingwood hospice's rollover jackpot prize was scooped after 50-weeks without a winner.

Brenda Veal was the lucky winner, taking home £10,000 - the first rollover jackpot of that value since June 2019.

Brenda said: “I was nicely surprised to receive the phone call saying I had won the St Clare Hospice Rollover of £10,000, I never expected to win! It came at such a good time as it’s been a really difficult year for me and this lifted my spirits!

"I would encourage others to join the St Clare Hospice Lottery to support the fantastic work that St Clare Hospice does.”

The St Clare Hospice Lottery has been running for over 20 years and currently has more than 15,500 weekly entries, which last year generated more than £450,000 in profit for the

hospice.

St Clare Hospice lottery manager, Paula Fogg, said: “We are delighted that the rollover has been won, after more than 50 weeks of waiting! It had reached a nail-biting stage in St Clare

Hospice Lottery HQ as we waited to see whose lucky number would be drawn – so it’s great to have finally found a winner. The rollover will now begin accumulating again, but players always

have the chance to win a guaranteed prize of £1,000 every single week.

"You can play our lottery for as little as £4.34 per month, and you will be contributing to around £450,000 which we raise in profit for the hospice charity every year. It really is a win-win! Playing our lottery is a fun way to support your local hospice, and makes a real difference to the lives of people in your community.”
