A WOMAN spat at police and threatened them with coronavirus.
Katana Paris had been arrested on suspicion of breaching a restraining order in Worthing.
The 25-year-old lashed out at custody staff working in the cells and spat at one of them.
She appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court where it was revealed she was in breach of a suspended sentence.
The previous sentence was imposed for breaching a restraining order.
Magistrate Geraldine Watkins noted Paris’s “flagrant disregard of court orders”. The court heard that Paris had spat at a “public servant carrying out his duties”.
“The assault was a vile act involving spitting during a pandemic,” the court heard.
Paris, of Grindon Crescent, Nottingham, admitted the assault charge, and breaking the suspended sentence order.
She was jailed for three months over the attack as magistrates decided that only a prison spell could be justified.
Ms Watkins, presiding, also ordered Paris to pay £100 in compensation to the custody cells worker who was spat at.
