TWO people were injured in a serious crash in a busy road.
The A270 Lewes Road in Moulsecoomb, Brighton was closed for about two hours after one car was left
on its roof and another was badly damaged in the collision.
The drivers of both were taken to hospital.
The blue Mercedes and red Peugeot collided opposite Selsfield Drive shortly before 6.30pm, with the impact causing the red hatchback to overturn.
Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene and closed the road to traffic, causing long delays in the area.
One witness said traffic was backed up for more than 20 minutes.
He said: “There was a lot of road debris and a lot of worried, curious people hanging around scratching their heads.”
The drivers of the Mercedes and the Peugeot, a man and a woman, both 33-year-olds from Brighton, were taken to the city’s Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment.
Police remained on the scene for several hours.
The highway was cleared at about 9pm.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses.
A spokesman said: “Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage of either of the vehicles in the area in the time leading up to is asked to report online or call 101 quoting serial 1282 of 13/08.”
