An investigation has been launched after a man was shot in a residential area of Downham on Tuesday (October 20).

Residents and eyewitnesses reported a large police presence in Chingley Close at around 5pm, with the air ambulance also landing at the scene.

Police have since confirmed a man, believed to be in his 30s, was found with gunshot injuries.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, but his condition was not described as life-threatening.

A Met Police spokesman said: "Police were called at approximately 4.55pm on Tuesday, October 20to reports of a firearm discharge in Chingley Close, Bromley.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, believed aged in his 30s, suffering gunshot injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment – his condition is not life threatening."

The spokesman confirmed that no arrests had yet been made, but an investigation was ongoing.
