Residents living in the borough of Redbridge will have the opportunity to ask senior leaders questions about the current Covid-19 situation in the borough.

The virtual meeting will also be a chance for people to find out what support is being offered and also receive guidance on how they can keep themselves and others safe.

It will be hosted next week by the leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr Jas Athwal.

Like the rest of London, Redbridge is currently subject to Tier 2 restrictions meaning there is a ban on different households mixing in any indoor setting.

The latest rate of cases in the borough is up slightly - sitting at 136.0 cases per 100,000 population, with a total of 415 cases in the seven days to October 18.

This is up from a rate of 124.8 in the seven days to October 11 - 381 cases.

The current rate in Redbridge is the seventh highest of all 32 London boroughs - and the highest in east London.

Ahead of the council meeting, which will take place online at 6pm on Tuesday October 27, Cllr Athwal said: "We’re hosting a virtual public meeting on Covid-19 to share critical information on how we can all stay safe with local people, faith groups and business and community groups.

"Sharing information and guidance and supporting one another is key to keeping our friends, family members, and neighbours safe this winter, so please join the call and find out what our council and public health teams are doing to stop the spread of the virus and how you can play a role in saving lives.

"There will be a Q&A section of the meeting, so if you or someone you know has any questions, this is the perfect opportunity to ask them and find out the facts about Covid."
