THERE are plans for a wedding venue at a historic Herefordshire manor house.
Berkeley Events Ltd want permission to host weddings up to 25 times a year at Great Brampton House near Madley.
The Regency era building was once the home of the late Birmingham King’s Norton Conservative MP Lionel Beaumont-Thomas.
Great Brampton House is presently being used as a private residence but if Herefordshire Council approve the plans it could have designated areas for wedding ceremonies.
The proposals state that there would be no overnight guest accommodation offered to any of the wedding party or to their guests.
The historic home currently has permission to be hired as a retreat for writers and artists, holiday accommodation, private celebrations, and events.

“The main differences between the current permitted use and the proposed change of use is that there would be no guest accommodation with this new application and that the new application would limit the use to just 25 times a year, rather than 364 days a year as currently permitted,” the planning statement reads.
“The current permission allowed for 20 paying guests, ten full time and five part time staff, visiting, lecturers and tutors, and 30 car parking spaces, with no time restrictions, so this current permitted activity could be taking place for 52 weeks (362 days) of the year.
“This new application is asking for a very maximum of 70 guests and 6 members of staff, at any one time, restricted to 25 occasions a year, (no overnight accommodation) and restricted hours of 11:00 till 21:00, the car parking and driveway entrance remaining as existing.”
Residents have until November 20 to comment on the proposals.
