The wonderful postcard above from c1900 shows Old Station Road near the junction of Loughton High Road with two men in the foreground posing at the camera.

Just out of shot to the right stood The Crown Hotel until 1965. Ahead is Ollard’s Grove laid out with an avenue of trees.

The scene is virtually unrecognisable today through so much change over the last 120 years.

Much has changed in the intervening 120 years
