A 78-year-old woman fell and hit her head when two men tried to rob her in Palmers Green.

The woman was walking along Broomfield Avenue, close to the junction with Aldermans Hill, when the pair attempted to take her handbag.

The victim managed to hold onto it but during the struggle fell to the ground and hit her head.

Both men then fled along Broomfield Avenue towards Pilgrim Close.

The woman did not require hospital treatment but suffered bruising from the head injury.

Following the attempted robbery on October 4 at around 2.50pm, police yesterday (November 16) appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Constable Lizy Martos, the investigating officer, said: "The victim has been left shaken up by this incident, which happened in the middle of the day.

"I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time or who has any information about this crime to contact police as soon as possible."
