Oxhey Jets came away with an unexpected 1-1 draw against FC Deportivo Galicia who have been in excellent form since the start of the year.

The visitors had to make eight enforced changes from the midweek win over Bagshot, bringing in some developing youngsters and players returning from long injuries to put together a side for Saturday’s Combined Counties League Division One encounter.

Both sides looked to play good football on the excellent artificial turf, resulting in a fast, end-to-end match.

Jets fell behind in the 14th minute following a defensive lapse and remained a goal down at the break.

The first half did have a major interruption when a freak torrential hailstorm brought the game to a halt as the referee ordered the players to get to safety.

The visitors were much improved in the second half following a very instructive team talk. The reward came in the 57th minute when Kleyton De Biazze hunted down the Deportivo keeper who was taking too long in possession, broke free with the ball and walked it into the net.

Jets then edged what was a fairly even end-to-end contest and thought they had a late winner when Remell Stirling netted but the assistant's flag went up a controversial offside.
