A small number of motorway closures will be taking place on the M27 in the build-up to the Easter 2024 bank holiday weekend which could impact Southampton drivers.

These are taking place during the early hours of the morning as a way of lessening the impact on the roads.

If you're planning to travel along these routes from Southampton it would be best to take note of different diversions that may be in place.

Here are the road closures currently scheduled to take place on the M27 as part of the build-up to the Easter weekend.

Hampshire M27 closures in the build-up to Easter weekend

The roadworks taking place in the build-up to the Easter weekend are mostly continuing projects.

For example, in both directions on the M27 from Junction 5 to Junction 3 there are lane closures for inspection works that cause slight delays of around 10 minutes.

This started on Friday, March 22 and will conclude on Thursday, March 28 with the closures taking place from 8pm to 6am each night.

Meanwhile, in both directions from Junction 4 to Junction 9, there are carriageway and lane closures for major resurfacing work.

This started on Monday, March 18 and is set to conclude on Wednesday, April 3, with the closures taking place from 8pm to 6am each night.

Elsewhere, on the M271 in both directions from Romsey roundabout to the M27 Junction 3 there will be carriageway, slip road and lane closures for carriageway reconstruction work.

This will take place from 9pm on Thursday, March 28 to 6am on Friday, March 29

Alongside that, on the M271 a new closure will last for one night from 8pm on Wednesday, March 27 to 6am on Wednesday, March 28.

In both directions at Junction 1, there will be lane closures so barrier repairs can take place. This should only cause delays of around 10 minutes.
