A national animal protection charity is calling for people to boycott one of the country’s few remaining animal circuses when it comes to Harringay.
The Captive Animals’ Protection Society wants people to boycott Zippos Circus when it comes to Ducketts Common from October 11 to 16.
The charity objects to the circus as it is one of eight left in the country that continues to use animals.
Zippos Circus uses horses in its acts and the Captive Animals’ Protection Society is worried about the treatment of those horses.
They say that animals used in circuses are often transported too much, kept in temporary accommodation and forced to perform.
Local campaigners intend to stage a demonstration outside the circus on the first night.
