Haringey Aquatics continued their superb form by winning an unprecedented 25-medals at the Middlesex County Youth Championships.

The competition saw swimmers aged 14-years-old and upwards from Haringey perform well in a number of disciplines at Sunday’s event.

Shakil Giordani was in particularly dominant form, claiming medals in the 1,500m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly.

Giordani, 14, added to his medal success by claiming the Camden Swiss Cottage Trophy, which is awarded for the fastest 50m backstroke time recorded by swimmers under the age of 16.

He would leave the event with a total of eight medals after winning silver in the 200m freestyle, 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke and bronze in the 400m and 100m freestyle.

There were further gold medals for Alex Vonckx (100m breaststroke), Alejandro Isaza-Ocampo (200m backstroke) and Rose Pepperday (800m freestyle).

Both Vonckx and Isaza-Ocampo went on to add silvers to their respective hauls with strong swims in the 200m individual medley, 200m backstroke and 100m backstroke.

In the 400m individual medley, Nicola Lawrence claimed a bronze medal, while Kelton Ryland matched her achievement in the 200m breaststroke and 400m individual medley.

Ryan Miskovics claimed third place finishes in both the 100m and 50m freestyle para races.

There were further bronze medals for Max Hanson (50m and 100m breaststroke), Isaza-Ocampo (200m backstroke), Vonckx (50m and 100m backstroke), and Renat Samur (100m breaststroke).

The club’s outstanding return, which was their highest in their 70-year history, takes their county medal tally to 39 in their last two events.
