Fullerians were praised for a “fantastic effort” after a bonus-point victory and keeping a clean sheet for the second match running in a 24-0 win at Datchworth.

Tries from Ryan Lewis, Matt Bushell, James Maher and George Harvey secured the victory that leaves Fullers fifth in London 2 North West, with Charlotte Fredrickson admitting some tricky decisions need to be made for Saturday's home clash with leaders London Welsh.

“We started very well on Saturday and put Datchworth on the back foot,” said the club's forwards coach. “It was great to keep a clean sheet for the second week running and our penalty count was in single figures which is excellent.

“A bonus-point win away from home is a fantastic effort by the boys and gives us difficult selection decisions this week as we host top of the league London Welsh on Saturday.”

The visitors started strongly but they were made to wait until 15 minutes to score their first try when wing Lewis went over in the corner after some good interplay from the forwards and backs.

After hooker Owen Scully was held up over the line, the second try arrived following an over throw by Datchworth at a lineout on their five-metre line and prop Bushell reacted quickest to touch down, with fly-half Luke Jacobs converting.

The lead was extended to 17-0 by half-time after a fine move in the backs and an exquisitely timed pass by Jacobs put wing Maher under the posts.

Fullers took their foot off the pedal after the break, but they continued to dominate possession without converting it into points until Number 8 Harvey picked up and drove from a scrum, with Jacobs again adding the extras.

An injury to the referee meant the game ended 10 minutes early after all parties had agreed to an early finish, with a phone call to the league secretary confirming such a move was acceptable.
