Euro 2020 will now take place in June 2021, after the spread of coronavirus forced leagues across Europe to postpone matches.

At a UEFA meeting earlier today it was decided that there was now no way the international tournament could be held this year and it will now take place between the dates of June 11 - July 11 next year.

Additionally UEFA pushed the finals of both the Champions League and the Europa League back by a month in an effort to try and see both competitions through to completion.

The Champions League final will now take place on June 27. three days after the Europa League final, which has been moved to June 24.

These decisions will have implications for the completion of this season's Premier League, which is set to be discussed at a meeting on Thursday.

Currently the league is scheduled to resume on the weekend of April 3 at the earliest, but the predicted spread of Covid-19 means that is now increasingly unlikely to happen.

Some suggested resolutions for the current incomplete season include declaring it null and void and restarting again next season, or playing games behind closed doors.
